I was shopping around for new phones as my upgrade time had come and came acrooss the Diamond. I was looking for an all-in-one phone so I could get rid of my PDA. I was able to read about this one before Sprint had it available and made sure I tried it out in the store when they got it in. I was very pleased with the feel and ease of use. I have been very happy with this phone and also love the MS Outlook sync feature as well. I keep my appointments, important dates, school and work schedule on it and it is great! I highly suggest getting this phone.

I was able to use the GPS feature (I have the everything plan) and found it to be quite useful. I did notice it does take a lot of battery power to run it and the phone does run warm to hot when the GPS has been running for a while. Otherwise, I agree with one of the other reviews that once you learn how to use it (small learning curve) I am sure you will love this phone! Also, it was very easy to set up the sync with my laptop.

Please note that there is the original HTC Touch Diamond and now the SPRINT version. HUGE differences between the two phones. I have the SPRINT version and it's fantastic, although it's not really for the technologically weak if you want to get the most out of the phone. A lot of the customizing of the phone requires some know-how and internet searching since there is no Application Store like the iphone, but this phone is EXTREMELY more customizable than other smartphones once you know what you're doing. It really is a miniature computer than can make phone calls. The interface is remarkably smooth and easy to use and also looks beautiful. Now here's why some people don't like this phone or had problems with it, and it's probably because they didn't have the SPRINT version which has fixed these problems:

SPRINT version fixes of the phone's previous problems:
much larger battery that allows me to use every single feature on the phone throughout the day and not have to recharge (i've found that video viewing, brighter screen, and GPS usage does tax the battery more than any other features on the phone)

real 3G network with some of the fastest data speeds on any phone

even smoother Touch-Flo interface with no lag at all

Original (Unlocked) HTC Touch Diamond cons:
poor battery life

glitches (reports that people constantly get error messages and/or have to reset their phone, or programs have lots of lag)

3G network that really wasn't 3G and therefore not great internet signal/strength

Overall this phone is the best I've ever owned. I had the HTC Touch originally and I upgraded to this phone shortly after it came out. The screen is excellent and the TouchFLO 3D interface is awesome as well. I was able to add my city to the weather application and it gives accurate readings too! The Opera Mobile browser is EXCELLENT. It incorporates gravity-sensing technology like the iPhone so if you turn the phone the screen turns with it, making entering text even easier if you like using a full QWERTY keyboard.

The only real con I would list is the battery life. This phone does die VERY fast. That's the only drawback. If you don't have a car charger or an extra battery, I would suggest buying one. It also doesn't have a slot for an external memory card, much to my dismay.

Otherwise, the sound quality is great, the screen is crisp, the camera is EXCELLENT and it has auto focus, although it doesn't have flash so you have to have ample lighting to take a decent picture. You can view Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint files on it and sync it with your Outlook.

I would recommend it.

To put things in perspective, I've had Motorola's, Sanyo's and most recently the PPC-6700 and the Treo 800w (the worst phone I've ever owned by the way). The Diamond is by far the best, most versatile and most beautiful phone I've ever owned. Love the compact QWERTY keyboard with predictive text in both English and Spanish. I used to have a full keyboard on my 6700 put this is so much more practical for me. I bought a second one for my wife after I'd had mine for a while.

I've had my Touch Diamond for three weeks now and so far I have to say it's better than the Motorola Q9c that it has replaced. The beefier processor and extra memory make a huge difference in how Windows Mobile performs and the TouchFlo 3D interface is very nice and responsive. I made a point to stop by a Sprint store to spend some time testing the phone and this is something I strongly recommend to anyone looking to get this phone. It's not for everyone!

Pros:
Beautiful full VGA screen with sharp, easy to read text with crisp pictures.
Very responsive when using applications (as long as you use the Task Manager to turn off unused apps).
Several different on screen keyboards (takes a little getting used to when coming for a full QWETY phone).
Wi-Fi.
aGPS.
Opera Mobile 9.65 web browser that is a pleasure to use (most of the time).

Cons:
Phone gets VERY warm (boarder line hot) when using voice or data.
Drops to 1x for voice calls.
Random lockups through the course of the day requiring the removal of the back case and doing a reset.
No way to force Opera Mobile to tell websites you are not on a cell phone which defaults many sites to WAP pages (there is a work around but it's not worth it!).
Abysmal battery life! Get and keep a spare charger on you at all times or get a battery backup charger like I have!

My major complaint about this phone is the random lockups and poor battery life. I could live with the battery life issue but the lockups are really starting to get on my nerves as about half the time when you press the reset switch beneath the battery cover the phone will lock up again during the boot up process on the Windows Mobile splash screen. This, more than any other shortcomings, makes me not love this phone as much as I want to. Frankly, if I had known about the frequent lockups I'd have probably opted for the Blackberry 8330 instead. Aside from sometimes locking up again during resets it takes this phone almost two full minutes from power on to being able to use it.

That being said HTC has a history of having issues like this in a first release of most of their phones and they are usually fixed via firmware updates. I really hope Sprint and HTC get on the ball with issuing one soon. The phone will really shine then!

Also, it would be nice if Sprint and HTC would get around to offering an extended battery for this phone or even offering for sale an extra OEM battery for customers to purchase. It would be nice to have one handy through the day.
