I love this phone its both sleek and stylish, but functional. the camera on it proforms well and I have taken some awesome photos with it, altho I have not been able to use my mp3's as ring tones and to me thats a big thing but other then that one thing this phone is great and sanyo did an awesome job on design but I would have made the outer screen a bit larger and added more music features and added an extended life battery kit to the initial purchase kit.

If I uses the media player, i have to reset it. If I lose signal while trying to go online, i have to reset it. Pretty much the more I use it the more I have to reset it. I wanted the Instinct, but this phone was an ER replacement after someone stole my other phone. i don't like the fact there isn't a spell check or no touch screen and the WM 6.1 while being a great upgrade from the previous, some areas seem to be overly complicated (i.e. file management, setting up the home screen).

WM 6.1 update brings threaded mms and new homescreen features that are EXTREMELY useful. It also speeds up the phone considerably and definitely identifies issues of lag and slow software. It has many features, it is durable, and they keyboard is fantastic. My only complaint would be the battery hump which is easily corrected with a different battery door and battery from ebay. Windows Mobile is very flexible and very open to being to customized and offers features that cannot be done in symbian OS, blackberry or any other mobile operating system. Despite WM6.1 flaws, it makes up for it in its flexibility, customizability and featureset. Highly recommended.

The features are second to none and the battery life is amazing. However, after owning the phone for just a few weeks it locked up on my while i was getting ready for work one morning. After frantically trying to power it off and back on and removing the battery and all that jazz, I was left with the "M Screen of Death". After doing a few web searches I found that this is a horribly common problem and the only fix was a Master Reset. All my contacts, pictures, and programs vanished as if they were never there. On top of the the Sprint Navigator has gone buggy several times requiring a cumbersome uninstall/reinstall process, losing my favorite places each time. Sprint's suggestion has always been to bring the phone in for replacement. I have yet to do this because as far as I have read, these are problems common to all of these phones. I've heard nothing about a fix for this from Motorola and I think that's horrible customer service. Don't get this phone if you rely heavily on it for business or are concerned about losing your data. There are apparently programs you can buy to clone the memory onto a SD card, but you shouldn't have to purchase third party software to keep your phone working the way it's supposed to out of the box. If Motorola were to fix this issue I'd give it 10's across the board for ratings, but until they do, STEER CLEAR!

First of all, I bought this phone merely on the basis of on-line reviews and the way it looked in photos; I had never seen nor held the phone. I love the features it has, it is a tremendous upgrade from the Samsung flip-phone I owned just over a month ago. So far, I love the phone in that aspect, especially since I paid about the same amount for this one and the Samsung - and I bought that phone over 3 years ago!
The Q9c looks as impressive in person as it does in the pics. And the features work great; things like internet explorer and media player work exceptionally well. The reception is also way above average in this remote area where I work (Key Biscayne, an island off the southeast shore of Florida). I can check my email, bank accounts, surf the web pretty quickly. I love the task functionality, calender, and even smaller details like the converter, which can convert units in a pinch when I don't want to come off as a dope when I need to convert length in meters to feet, or temperature in degrees Celcius to Fahrenheit. A small detail that proves handy and makes me think the design was well thought-out. The main disappointment I have had so far with the phone have been the fact that I have not been able to sync my phone with my gmail account. Although I can check my email by going online, there is a function that is supposed to allow your messages to come straight into an inbox on the phone, just like texts. So far, this function has alluded me; although the IT people I have spoken with over the phone about the problem have been very accomodating about trying to correct it. The other poor feature is the picture quality. At 6 megapixels, the pictures are large and detailed at the highest resolution, but the color quality is mediocre. I also found it somewhat surprising that the phone only has one alarm, not multiple like some other higher-end phones. While a minor detail, it just seems like it was overlooked. But overall, I am quite pleased with the phone. I would recommend it to the professional-on-the-go who needs a lot of features in one touch in a handy package and is looking for an alternative to the blackberry.

I'm on the third phone now. The features are incredible and on the surface this phone should be kick ass but it falls so short in reliability. This has been the worst experience I've had with a phone. It doesn't help that sprint customer service is (although getting a little better of late) horrible and dealing with Motorola isn't much better as they just tell you to call sprint. I had an 8830 blackberry which I'm still kicking myself for getting rid of. I don't know why I thought being able to take pictures was so important. The deal is they had a great concept in the phone but didn't do much R&D. As a matter of fact the reason I'm writing this is because I noticed today that Sprint no longer offers this phone.. Now I'm really miffed. When I can afford it, or when this phone craps out, I'll stay away from Motorola and move to the blackberry 8330, 8830.. or I'll take a stab at the samsung intinct...with the hopes that is doesn't in-stink.. Can anyone tell me how to get the windows 6.1 update? thanks

I have not really ever been in love with a sprint phone or had one that did what I wanted it to do. This one is an exception. I have not had any freezing or any issues. The battery life is remarkable and I go days without charging. I am not a phone hog though... so I am not constantly texting, emailing, and surfing like some may do. I just really enjoy that everything is there. The phone is not perfect.. none are as we all have to give up something to get something else. But I really like it for all that it does.
For ladies with small hands though, it may feel bulky. But if you got yourself some man hands.. then this is a good buy!

The battery life is awesome (2-3 days per charge w/ regular internet surfing) - Also, in most urban areas (I travel a lot), the connection speed is fantastic. Those claiming otherwise either have defective battery or are too young to have any sort of context. We hire many assistants in their early 20s who complain that our computers and web connection (T3) is "slow". What's interesting about that is that such has never been faster - not in their lifetimes and certainly not in mine. One can't judge a machine on one's expectations but on the limits of technology and price. I paid $100 for this phone on a special promo. My boss got the newest and greatest Blackberry. I pay $50 total for my phone to include unlimited data - she pays... well, more than $80 for just the data. To date, I can do everything she can do (better). I get internet where she does not and I get it faster. If your email is via an Exchange server, the ActiveSync works like a charm. The 6.0 OS (duh, Microsoft) does crash ("freeze") a great deal. That can be frustrating, but I read a post saying there was a 6.1 fix. Software support is pitiful overall and the alarm function is deeply embedded inside of the settings - that's ridiculous. My calendar is seamless with my Outlook work version - saved my life, that has. There is no stopwatch/timer function - I've tried to buy that utility twice without success (didn't get charged for it); again, the software support sucks. Also, one can't alter the homepage in the internet browser without hacking the registry - that's just stupid. If you're looking for a good and inexpensive smart phone, I'm impressed by this. But, understand, it's not a replacement for a computer. This phone keeps me on time, reminds me of birthdays and meetings, allows me to check the weather (see the radar), check on my flights, synchronize when I make updates to my contact list or calendar, and keep apprised of the news. There's even a built-in GPS function which I use all the time, even in rural West Virginia (no additional cost) - recommend you download Google Maps mobile utility and buy a 2 gig memory card. If the phone freezes, just turn it off and turn it back on (only once I also had to pull the battery) - it's 30 seconds of your life, no reason to get wrapped around the axle.

I have had my contacts erased several times and it freezes REPEATEDLY. I wouldn't take this phone if this was the last phone in the sprint store. Do not be fooled by clever packaging and fancy features. It isn't worth the plastic it's wrapped in.

My friend got the Verizon Q9m, and i got the Sprint Q9c and months later here we are with a different phone. We both had horrible freezing problems. Not even juts freezing problems, but problems where it would freeze and when reset it wouldn't come back up. I returned my first phone, thinking I must have a buggy phone, but I had the same problem with the 2nd one. I had to hard reset it (lose all my pictures, contacts, installed programs) daily. Horrible phone and I most definitely do NOT recommend it.

If you saw my Q review, you would know I'm not pleased with it. however, if it wasn't for the OS and battery, I would rather use my Q over the Q9C any day. I do not understand people giving this battery a bad review, I can go 2 days without charging this unit and that's constant exchange sync and texting, some BT headphones from time to time as well for music. Now, the processor is very SLOW, app response time is ridiculous. To get the camera running takes an eternity, to receive picture mail takes an eternity, if you use media player, it renders the phone useless for anything else. As many others have commented, it is a good idea to have a speed dial set for the Task Manager. My wife has the Treo 755P and what a difference it is for everything, to send or receive pictures, to run applications, to switch from one app to another, etc... now the funny thing is that I did a speed test on both phones... and my phone clocked at 620kb while hers clocked at 490kb yet because of the buggy browser, it takes longer to receive pictures on my phone than it does on hers... the treo load time is 1 to 2 seconds, this phone takes like 3 to 5 seconds for the thumbnail and another 5 to 10 for the actual picture. I doubt 6.1 will do anything good for it, but we can always hope.
I wish they would release 6 for the Q, even if it's a pay for option.

I wish it were a sch-i760, but it's not. Screen is small, abnormal for windows mobile, a lot of the games you'd like to buy are for a full size windows mobile screen, more like a regular pda, the smart phone doesn't quite adapt properly. The phone crashes all the time, around 10 in the last 2 to 3 months I've owned it. Most of the time when it's crashed I've got to re-sync and re-do all my settings. It seems to have a funky issue if I use mp3's as ring tones, it loses it's ability to play any .mp3 or .wma file, sound just goes away and doesn't come back till hard restore. No touch screen. Windows Media player loses my place in my audio books if I pause it before taking a call. Would like to see some newer innovations from Motorola. Programs shouldn't run all the time after using them once, they should shut off as soon as you flip to something else, and if you have a few that you want to stay running, like maybe media player, you should be able to override on an individual basis.

The screen is as good as a TV, really clear and sharp. There are a bunch of built in applications, but push the button and they're trying to sell another service. Even the free download ones end up asking you to go for more, at a price. It's a PDA that you can sync to your computer, but I found out that you need Office XP to sync it, which I don't have. I got a good deal on the phone, but Office XP is $179. You can get most of what you need from a nice cell phone; my wife just got a Sanyo 3200 and it has everything you would need for the casual user.

I switched jobs, and my new employer didn't support the blackberry for exchange sync, so I went with this phone. I've been disappointed with the inability to do simple things like copy and paste, the response of the keyboard, as well as the battery only lasting a bit over a day, and how frequently the phone gets sluggish and needs to be rebooted. Also, when you're dialing a number you can see the alphabet per number (ie 2-abc, 3-def), but these go away once connected, so if you get to a voicemail system where you need to dial by name, it's inconvenient at best. I'm not sure how much it would bother me if I wasn't used to the blackberry devices, but found that the form factor is really the only thing comparable.
