great phone all around. wish blackberrys had a better browser but the most useful sites have blackberry optimized versions anyway. the keys could afford to be farther apart from one another like they are on the curve.

This phone at first glance is awesome, then the truth comes out. The longer I own it the more I hate it.
Maybe I got a lemon, but it is a night mare. It freezes up all the time, and deletes incoming texts, or people never get the ones that you send.(which has gotten me in trouble more than once)
Thecalls are horrible. I can not talk on this phone while inside any kind of building even my own house.
Every single call breaks up or drops. The GPS is the only good thing about it, the GPS is wonderful.
I am so sorry I chose this phone. Of course they give you 30 days to try it out, isn't strange how nothing ever happens until the 31st day. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

I had the razor since it first came out, Well i wanted to be able to see my phone do more..I got the Blackberry 8830..When i tell you i love this..I was in love with my ipod 80g..and this has made me put down my ipod..it does EVERYTHING..Tv, GPS, All my email accounts are available, noticications, NOw when it comes to the buttons, i thought too little..But i brought a cover so now my finger glide to the keys with no errors..Now when i pick up a phone i look to feel a trackball.. i love the trackball, the quick internet access, and it shows like i am at a pc.

I am not sure what your looking for in a phone, but i don't need to use my laptop as much since i have this..
The camera is the bomb, the music playback, you can't put this phone down..you will find new things to do with this phone the longer you have it..DON"T BE SURPRISED..its more than just using it as a phone..its a life line...

If you are buying this phone because it's world edition, do not. On the other hand, it is great for travelling if you know the do's and don'ts of travelling. I would never settle for Sprint outside the US. Buy a sim card from the many carriers all over the world. Feels great, I can text with one hand only, features are easy to use but nothing out of this world. Could use some more media space. I love that I can check anything online, and have the GPS at my beck and call wherever I'm at.

This device is like the hot looking woman who ends up not being as exciting as anticipated. 1) The phone features suck. keypad is small (number keys could have been larger or shaped different from others) and hard to use. The speaker is dull and not nearly as clear as any of the phones I have had in the last 10 years! People are always complaining they cannot hear me or my voice sounds muted. Features to access phonebook and edit numbers etc seems clumsier than less expensive and less featured phones. 2) Battery life - jeez if you listen to music or surf the web etc. battery life drains very quickly! I have spare car chargers with me all the time so that whether at home or traveling (which I do ALOT) I am always charging the phone. 3) Media - the MP3 player is adequate but very limited in features. The phone jack is the standard micro sized jack for phones - regular stereo buds cannot be used, a special set must be bought (Altec is a premium set available for $80-100, a cheaper $40 set is available at AT&T stores). I strongly recommend buying an 8MB MicroSD card - I got one for $75 at FRYS, Verizon sells one for $90, most other locations sell them for $120-150. 4) Navigation - I LOVE trackballs for computers and the one on the 8830 is useful - BUT, I miss the old side-mounted "scroll" wheel. What the hell was wrong with that!?!?! Also, the email shortcuts (b for botton etc) do not work anywhere else. Also, there does not seem to be a pageup, page down etc. Lots of time spent on the trackball. 5) Physical - jeez the case is really flimsy plastic, esp. the back. DO NOT DROP this device! I recommend getting a rubber or neoprene (BodyGlove) cover - BUT that prevents it from being stored in the standard wallet/belt case. Also - very pretty but slick surface. If your hands are sweaty or otherwise slick it may be hard to handle. 6) Accessories - crap years ago I had PALM PDAs and could get attachable keyboards to make use easy in special situations (meetings etc.). All I can find is ONE USB keyboard for the BB that is $100. WTF?!? The PALM keybds were usually $50 or less!!
7) SETUP and corporate use - Jeez, getting access to use the blackberry server at work was a big FXXing mystery and then took several steps to configure. You get a headache tryign to figure it out and then need a beer when its done (after which you forget the nightmare).
OHHHH and forget accessing free email services like Hotmail (my personal email acct since 1997!) There is some weird restriction on accessing non-Paid services.
8) VALUE - List is appx $400, but with various discounts can get down to $150-200. So it is a good deal if you Need a Blackberry for work. Otherwise, consider one of the other Smartphones using MicroSoft or Palm. Most people I know using BlackJacks have few problems with them.

This is the second Blackberry replacment Ive had. The first one could not read a memory card, and everytime I bump it; it starts to recylce. The phone shuts off the moment it feels impact, like a drop onto the car seat or the bed and my phone has NEVER been dropped. It stylish yet bulky, takes almost 3 mins to turn on, and not really business suitable. I think I would like Blackberry with the exception of it being to fragile.

Not exactly as I expected. When I bought this phone, I was willing to pay any price to get a PDA phone with all the features. For some reason, I was talked by the sales rep into getting this Centro (Oh! maybe because of the price). It does all what the PDA's do but the phone is too small/compact to do the job. The keys are too small and compressed making it difficult to type text making the QWERTY keyboard non-sense. The phone is too small making it difficult to put it in between your shoulder and ear while talking (so when you are thinking of buying this phone, consider having a bluetooth or any kind of ear piece). It does not support voice dial and very difficult to open and close the back where the battery is that sometimes you have to do just to open the SD slot. Also, I tried downloading a ringtone from Sprint Digital Lounge and unsuccessfull too. Seems that it also does not support downloading of ringtones. I can't wait till I am qualified for a discount again so I can replace this phone.

In general, I like BlackBerries - this is my third. I'm pleased with many of the new features, such as the ability to use it in many countries. I thought I'd hate the track ball, but am finding it quite easy to use. However, it doesn't back up from line to line on the main screen. So, to get from the icon at the beginning of one line, to the icon at the end of the previous line, you have to move 6 places, instead of 1.

This BlackBerry crashes about once/week. No idea why, but it does - it just "hangs" - usually when in the Browser. You can't stop whatever process is running, or shut it off. The only way to recover, is to remove the battery!

And, why did they change the keyboard, yet again? After 2 months, I am still hitting the wrong keys on the far left & right edges. That said, the $ key is very useful.

The phone features are good; the green & red keys are clear & easy to use. However, the microphone is still poor - especially in speaker mode.

So, there are pluses & minuses with this one.

P.S. The BlackBerry Browser is unavailable for at least a full day, about twice/month. That's probably unrelated to the phone, but is a real aggravation.

Overall this phone is everything that i needed. So what if i have to pay a little extra each month. It is well worth it. This phone has all the features of the new curve with the exclusion of a few things that are only used if you have far too much time on your hands. Overall i give the 8830 a 9 out of 10. It is a great phone and it helps keep me organized and knowing what has to be done. And lets be honest with ourselves, The black from sprint is far better looking than any other company like Verizon with the Red???? Interesting but black conquers all and this phone is one that plan to have for many years to come.
