This is all I need, a cell phone that never loses signal, has excellent battery life, does not have that sometimes annoying flip action, and it's easy to use. It has Vision capabilities and texting without having to connect to the web. All those new phones are just too flashy and have too many gadgets. A really nice feature is the ringer volume is actually loud, you can hear it from a couple of rooms across, which is not recommended in certain public places. I just got this phone a couple of weeks ago, new in box, and I have no problems. The only thing that would make this a killer phone is a black version.

I wish they mad the newer phones this well. It works when friends fancy iphones won't. I've read that it has the highest RF Gain of any phone out there, so i went with it when I first started traveling in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm probably frying my brain because of the strong output, but it has fewer dropped calls than any other phone I've seen. Does Sanyo have a newer model which does as well?

This phone has been a steady workhorse, going strong now for 4 years, when the average life of most phones on the Sprint network is about 6 months to a year...if you push it. I know they hate it that I've been using this one for this long.

Sprint even sent me 2 new Sanyo flips with my last contract, but their signal rang and battery life just do not beat this phone, so I left one of the new ones boxed and the other flip is just my backup phone! In outbound areas, this phone has excellent signal strength and when I first bought it in 2004, the dealer told me not to waste time or money buying the extended life battery, because the battery on this brick is awesome. I'm talking an hour of talk time even after it starts flashing and beeping that the battery is getting low!

For all the bells and whistles on the new phones today, if you can get ahold of this model, they are very durable. A cheap leather case is a MUST to protect it from damage in case of being dropped. You won't have the hing problems you have with flip phones either. This thing is durable. My only angst was that when I went to buy two new ones when renewing my contract, these little jems were out of stock and being phased out of the Sprint arsenal. After a month on back order, they finally pressed me to take an upgrade to the Sanyo flip (SCP-8400) but the phone although equiped with video and photo capabilities, does not have the battery life or range of my 4920 "BRICK."

Outstanding phone if you can get your hands on one.

This phone isn't the slickest around, but you can't kill it. Mine has been in HARD use for at least four years, still functions perfectly. Battery will hold two days charge. Very sturdy and reliable. I cracked the screen about three years ago, just keeps on going. Most of the surfaces are worn, cracked, faded but everything still works!! I wish everything were built this well nowadays. I will definitely look for Sanyo products based on my experience with this phone.
